Accepting offers for this unmodified 'BARN FIND' 1976 C10/F44 Custom Deluxe (Model: 10703-Body code: E63/F44) Short Bed fleetside pickup, with the 6050 GVWR suspension package (RPO code F44). It still has its original matching numbers factory 454ci engine(LF8) rated at 245hp/365LbFt, as well as its original TH400 Automatic transmission(M40), Factory A/C(C60), Tilt steering wheel(N33), 4.11 rear axle ratio(HO4), Posi-traction(G80) and Factory 12-Bolt rear-end (factory determined, so no RPO). The original air cleaner and carburetor are still there, and the air-cleaner Exhaust Emissions label (yet has no Smog pump or Catalytic due to an EPA loophole over 6000 GVWR!) reads: 'GM (engine) Family 115, Displ 454 cu. in., Date: Jul 1976'. The VIN is: CCS146SXXXXXX (first S=454), so you can see that it's not a de-badged Factory BIG10 truck or the first number would be a "4", not a "1" (i.e., CCS446SXXXXXX). It was ultra-low optioned with just 11 RPO codes listed on the SPId , and 3 of them; L78-15B BWL tires(XLB/YLB), B.E.L. painted mirrors(D29) and solid Sante-Fe Tan paint(ZY1), were standard base RPO's. Also, on the SPId, are three 4-number COPO 'DELETE' Codes: Radio delete, Exterior chrome delete and Sparse interior (delete headliner, minimal door panels, and delete interior chrome).

The Acronym COPO stands for: Central Office Production Order, AND NOT: Custom Ordered Performance Option! Most people don't know that 95% of COPO codes were for mundane things like delete equipment, special wiring or roof re-enforcement options, and aside from Police Car engine/trans/rear axle packages (6cyl-to-H.P. V-8's), there were maybe 10 'unpublished' Performance engine COPO codes developed mainly for racing and some for dealers like Dickie, Yenko, Baldwin, etc.! By 1976 these COPO options were severely restricted and largely unavailable, leaving the 454ci LF8 as the only performance RPO. In addition, the 4.11 gears (HO4) were not an available RPO (see chart) on C10/F44-Big10 trucks with the 454 and could only be specified and approved on a COPO order. Taken all together, it is certainly a COPO 454 C10 Custom Deluxe (base) 'sleeper', and possible one-of-a-kind truck. Oddly, Chromed front and rear bumpers(V37) were ordered for the 8th and final specified (not standard) RPO, when standard painted ones would have better kept with the Chrome-free 'sleeper' theme here.

Original engine was rebuilt 20,000 miles ago, and I have the receipt. Mileage now shows just 71,384 and the doors still open, close and latch solidly, just like when it was new. The new, 2.5" Dual Exhaust system still retains the original exhaust manifolds. It also has a new Seat, Carpet and Rubber door seals. Argent colored steel wheels with chrome trim rings are also new and I have some white Bowtie hub caps. The tires do hold air but are now dry rotted. Has the common rust at the lower rear cab corners and light damage to drivers rear, but I have another correct Chromed rear bumper to replace the damaged one. Clean AZ Title in hand and has current plates and registration. You can clearly see that I have no idea what I have. Don't HATE! Read more below......

The last of the Muscle Cars were actually Muscle Trucks! In 1976, these Factory C10 trucks with the 454 could outrun the factory 1976 Corvette 350 (with no 454-option available) by over a full second (15.51 vs. 16.79 et) in the Quarter mile. See CAR CRAFT magazines' June 1977 'Super Cars of the 70's? Trucks! Battle of the BIG-BLOCKS' for a 15.51sec. Quarter mile run with 3.73 gear axle (the 4.11gears would have brought the elapsed time into the low 15's!!) against the Dodge 440 and Ford 460 short bed 2wd trucks (I'll include the original magazine!). Also in 1976, Motor Trend magazine called the C10/454 trucks; "A throw back to 60's Muscle Cars!" and they're #3 on Hemmings list of the 'Greatest Muscle Trucks of all time!'. A great Father-Son/Daughter project for the summer, or the perfect candidate for Barrett-Jackson next year. Brakes are weak and tires are shot, so bring a trailer. Trades considered, but I just passed on a NEW $5,500 Snap-on tool set (I know, I know, but that's still a little low, and I didn't need a tool set!).
